Friendship Letter
Dear
As friend to friend, I want to let you know that I plan to accept the voluntary early retirement package offered by my company as of March 31, 20—. However, I do not plan on moving out to pasture for at least another five to ten years. Consequently, I have updated my resume to begin marketing myself for what I believe will be the most exciting and productive years of my life.
I am totally open not only to an industry change but also to relocating if necessary—naturally Jane and I both prefer to remain here!
Should you be aware of any friends or business associates who may be in the market for new blood and innovative thinking, I would truly appreciate your slipping them the attached copy of my resume or giving me their names to contact personally.
Any assistance or advice you can give me at this special crossroads period of my life will be greatly appreciated.
